THERE'S ONLY ONE UNITED STATES MINT

Congress created the United States Mint on April 2, 1792. The primary function of the United States Mint is to produce circulating coinage for the United States to conduct trade and commerce. While others may attempt to look official, the United States Mint is the only true, official mint of our Nation.

Since the earliest days of our country, the coins produced by the United States Mint have been admired for their beauty and craftsmanship. Over the years, generations of children and adults have made collecting coins both a fun hobby and a serious business.

Coinage Worth Collecting

Beyond producing beautiful coinage for currency, the United States Mint has also produced coins exclusively to collect. From annual coin sets and special program coins to proof sets and uncirculated United States Mint sets, these coins are collected, cherished and handed down from generation to generation.

In recent years that tradition has continued with the ongoing Presidential $1 Coins and First Spouse Gold Coins series and the wildly popular United States Mint 50 State Quarters® Program.

Celebrating "America the Beautiful"

With the 10-year United States Mint 50 State Quarters® Program recently completed, the United States Mint has now begun the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. These 56 quarter-dollar coins featuring designs depicting national parks and other national sites will celebrate the beauty and history of our country.

Running through 2021, each year the public will see five new national site designs depicted on the reverse (tails) of America the Beautiful Quarters® (1 coin for 2021). The United States Mint will issue these legal tender quarters in the order in which the honored site was first established as a national site.
