COIN OVERVIEW

If deep within your chest, you feel the throbbing call of the wild, Washington's America the Beautiful quarter is going to delight you. It features a design based on Olympic National Park, of which 95% is designated as Wilderness.

The reverse image depicts a Roosevelt elk standing on a gravel river bar of the Hoh River with a view of Mount Olympus in the background. Inscriptions are OLYMPIC, WASHINGTON, 2011 and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Design candidates were developed in consultation with representatives of Olympic National Park.

OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK OVERVIEW

Originally created by U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt in 1909, the park was granted national status by his relative and fellow President Franklin Roosevelt. In 1976, Olympic National park became an International Biosphere Reserve, areas in the world the demonstrate a balanced relationship between humans and nature.

The park features a ruggy, sandy coastal portion, a range of glaciated mountains and a temperate rainforest; so no matter what your outdoor fancy, something at Olympic National Park will strike it.
