Visitors come to White Mountain National Forest to explore over 1,200 miles of hiking trails, camp in 23 locations, picnic, fish and watch wildlife including black bear and moose. Spectacular foliage draws scenic drivers in the fall while skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling keep them coming back every winter. Primarily in New Hampshire with just over 1/20th in Maine, the site of the 16th National park coin features six federally designated wilderness areas: Presidental Range, Great Gulf Wilderness, Pemigewasset Wilderness, Sandwich Range Wilderness and Wild River wilderness.
