GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK OVERVIEW

America’s most visited national park, people flock to these ancient mountains, which range in height from 876 feet at the mouth of Abram's Creek to 6,643 feet at the peak of Clingmans Dome. Sixteen of the park's mountains stretch more than a mile into the atmosphere, which makes hiking the trails both an intense challenge and a fount of beauty nonpareil.

The park also attracts anglers, especially those into fly fishing. A high amount of trout activity, along with challenging terrain, attracts fisherman from the country over. Non-pescatarian animals in the park include 200 species of birds, 66 species of mammals (including some 1,800 black bears), 39 species of reptiles and 43 species of amphibians.
