Nestled between the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, Shawnee National Forest features rolling hills, forests, open lands, lakes, creeks and rugged bluffs. More than 500 wildlife species can be found within the forest, including 48 mammals, 237 birds, 52 reptiles, 57 amphibians and 109 fish. Visitors come to camp, fish, hike, bike and “get away from it all,” even if it’s only for a few hours.
