PARK OVERVIEW

At the heart of this 2,526-acre Monument are 206 American Indian mounds considered sacred and ceremonial by many Americans. Of these, 31 are effigies in the shape of bears and birds. Located within one of the most picturesque sections along the "Great River Road" of the Mississippi River, the Monument also includes diverse hiking trails.
