Catch a ferry and take the approximately 12-mile trip and you’ll find the island internationally recognized as one of the most important migratory bird habitats on the East Coast. Large concentrations of over 70 species of migratory songbirds visit the area each fall, closely watched by hundreds of “birders” who come to hear their songs.
