PARK OVERVIEW

Four historic missions and their churches dating back to 1718 draw visitors to this San Antonio park. These walled, medieval communities of Franciscans and Spanish missionaries were built to acculturate and Christianize the native population and make them Spanish citizens. The churches are still active Catholic parishes and hold regular services.
