This coin was authorized in support of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
Recipient Organization: United States Olympic Committee and the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee
Per Public Law 97-220, the United States Olympic Committee was to receive 50 percent of the surcharges collected and use the funds to train athletes, to support local or community amateur athletic programs, and to erect training facilities. The Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee was to receive the remaining 50 percent to be used to stage and promote the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.Commemorative Coin Surcharges
